Property Description
A lock-up-and leave town house, with loads of character, decorated with flair and in lovely order. There is a pretty, private garden, with access to the local river, a garage, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Walking distance of the shops, the weekly market and just over an hour from Caen ferry port.
No need to get in the car for your daily baguette! This stone house is in the centre of the peaceful and pretty little town of Gorron, which lies in unspoiled countryside, in north-west France. In addition to the bakeries there are restaurants, bars, a butcher, supermarket and even a flower shop. There is a swimming pool in Gorron and a lakeside park just on the outskirts of the town which has a “go-ape” experience and kayaks.
On the ground floor is the kitchen/breakfast room, with plenty of modern fitted units, tiled floor, beamed ceiling and a fireplace fitted with a solid fuel burner. The brightly coloured sitting room is really cosy, with fitted bookshelves, tiled floor and open fireplace. There is a downstairs WC.
The master bedroom is on the first floor and has a dressing room and ensuite bathroom. There are two further double bedrooms and a shower room. The attic has been converted into a workshop. The water is heated by solar power and there is a heat pump.
The garden is smallish but private, well maintained and beautifully planted, and there is a pretty terraced area for eating outside. The River Colmont runs alongside, behind a high wall and there is a workshop and garage in the grounds.
The cottage is really easy to access by both air and ferry. The ferry port of Caen is the closest (just over an hour’s drive) but Cherbourg, Le Havre and St Malo are only a little further. Direct flights from the UK operate to Paris, Angers, Rennes and Tours.
