A perfect antidote to the stresses of life, this cottage will appeal to those who enjoy coastal and natural landscapes, within easy reach of the UK.   It appears structurally sound but the kitchen and bathroom need modernising.  Stunning main room, open to the rafters and charming mezzanine bedroom.

Tucked away in a cul-de-sac and not overlooked by neighbours, this is a real rural retreat.  The main ground floor room is loaded with character.  Not only is the ceiling open to the rafters, but there is a fine staircase and a huge stone fireplace fitted with a wood-burning stove.  This room is the focus of the house, with space for sitting around the fireplace at one end and with the kitchen at the other.  There is a shower room with washbasin and a separate WC.  We would guess the new owners will want to modernise both the kitchen and bathroom.  However, the structure of the cottage appears excellent and so there is a good basis from which to make some improvements.  The double mezzanine bedroom overlooks the main room below.

The pretty garden which extends to 1200m2 (about 1/4 acre) is to the front of the cottage.  It has a delightful terrace and lovely views over the surrounding countryside.  There is a large but rickety shed.

The village of Collorec has a general shop, bakery, bar and restaurant.  There is a much wider choice of shops and amenities in the town of Huelgoat, which is 14kms away.  Huelgoat has a market and plenty of places to savour local Breton cuisine, including seafood, crêpes and buttery galettes (like shortbread biscuits).  Just beside the town is a 15 acre lake  which offers fishing, kayaking and similar water sports.

This part of NW France is similar to Cornwall.  There are about 800kms of coastline in Finistere and many hundreds of cycling tracks, which are mostly flat, car free and paved.  Collorec is just 30 minutes from the coast where you will find secluded coves, stretches of sand and good surfing.

Brittany Ferries operate a service from Plymouth to Roscoff and from Portsmouth to St Malo.  Roscoff is about an hour’s drive  from the property and St Malo two hours.
